Sonoma

Wine country was our next stop in California and we stayed at the luxurious Fairmont Mission Inn and Spa in Sonoma. This place was incredible. Below is a pretty poor photo of the beautifully rustic and cozy lobby (the fireplace was always being stoked and the -free- wine was flowing every afternoon, so you can see why I loved this place so much!).
It was so exciting to see blue sky in Sonoma!! We didn't take long to hit the wineries. First stop: Beringer.
It took me a minute to realize that these were the grapevines. Since I am in New York wine country at the end of every summer I am used to seeing the ripe and full vines, so it was strange to see little stubs everywhere.
On our 2nd full day in Sonoma we had a driver take us on a wine tour (part of our glamorous package!) and it was quite a treat. He took us to some small wineries we never would have known about where we had private tastings. Funny how wine makes it easier to pull out your credit card over and over and over. Worth every penny!

Brian and our awesome driver.
What it feels like to be rich.
Last stop: Deerfield Winery where we toured the cave. Let's see...this was winery number 5, "taste" of wine number 25, approximately. Feeling no pain. Cool picture. And probably what Brian looked like through my wine goggles!
I love how we hugged a little tighter at the end of the wine tour.
The last day in California we spent walking through Muir Woods where huge Redwoods towered over us. Beautiful!
One last stop by the bridge.A wonderful vacation...we couldn't have asked for anything more. Thank you, my darling husband, for being the best travel buddy a gal could ask for. And thank you for knowing Fred!
